Feeling Bad About Myself

I have a tone. I can be harsh. I’m pretty direct. I scare people sometimes.

I’m loving. I’m kind. I look out for other people. I like to serve more than lead.

Yesterday, my son who is also my boss, had to speak to me. Our Client Manager, who is the only other person in our office, was upset about a flippant comment I made to her last week and he was annoyed because I pointed out a problem without a solution.

We talked and trust me, not one part of me feels defensive. I know our CM’s personality is totally different than mine thanks to a DISC analysis we all took a few years ago. I need to drag that out and tape it to my wall!

I apologized to our CM, who graciously accepted my apology.

It was sort of funny that all happened because just last week she and I talked about how relaxed I feel since I’ve been meditating for 10 minutes every morning. I guess I was “off” that day!

As for the problem/no solution, he and I talked that out, and he’s coming up with a plan (which I was so thrilled to hear about last week), but in the meantime, I will come up with a list of how I can help in the meantime.

Being told that I hurt someone makes me take a step back. It makes me feel sad because that’s not how I want to be seen. A wake up call I guess. It makes me feel like I want to retreat into the background because if I open my mouth snakes will come out.

And then this morning, while reading my “Jesus Calling”, it lead me to Psalms 139:23-24 which says:

Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is an offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
